EUROPEAN YOUT WEEK

For social cohesion

In order to foster social cohesion and promote a sense of unity, we orchestrated the European Youth Week gathering, bringing together young individuals from Turkey and Syrian refugees. Our main focus was to utilize the power of sports, specifically judo, to strengthen the bonds among participants.

About This Event

The event started with the preparation of students from different parts of Kilis. The event was introduced by music featuring a presenter who explained the significance of European Youth Week. Small flags were then distributed to all the participants. The opening ceremony took place, during which the activities for the event were discussed. Next, presentations aimed to introduce Judo and its values to the attendees were provided. Purposeful games were also presented to engage the participants. Following that, some of the participants showcased their judo skills through matches. T-shirts were distributed to all the children, and a group photo was taken in front of Kilis Directorate of Youth and Sport. Afterward, a walking activity called "Peace for Judo" took place, where everyone wore the distributed T-shirts. Meals were distributed to both the children and the workers, courtesy of the Sports and Youth Department and the Amal Team. The event concluded with the cleaning of the garden, ensuring that any food waste was properly disposed of.

Introduction and Opening ceremony

Participants reached the venue, a musical introduction was provided with with a presenter about what European Youth Week is followed by the distribution of small flags to the participant.

15.30 PM - 15:45 PM

What is Judo?

A presentation on Judo and its values was provided.

15:45 PM - 16:15 PM

Competions and games

Games and competitions involved all participants in purposeful games (like running with a bag - tug of war - hammer).

16:15 PM - 16:30 PM

Judo Tournament

A Judo Tournament was held involving six among the children who aprticipated to the judo training in the Judo for Peace project and prizes were assigned.

16:30 PM - 17:15 PM

Distribution of T-Shirts

Distribution of T-shirts to judo participants and coaches and a group photo of the participants in front of the Sports and Youth Directorate.

17:15 PM - 17:30 PM

The Peace for Judo March

Children marched outside in the neighbourhood branding the Project flags and banners and wearing the Judo for Peace t-shirts. The march was followed by distribution of meals  and cleaning up the garden.
